January 24th 2011

After waiting to see if anyone else would come we stated racing at 8pm. 5 racers turned out, with Chris A and James missing from the previous week, due to a busy weekend.

Class 1—1/24th Og12

With each driver getting two heats, Chris T top qualified with a 33.52, using a falcon. Graham was second with a 32.94, rounding out the A final, Dave with his falcon, after his body got ripped off his OG12, out qualified Malcolm (lending a Hawk motor in an open chassis off Brian) by half a lap to take choice for the B Final. Brian the only person to use and OG12 qualified last.

The B Final was a close race, with Brian, Dave and Malcolm all lead at one point. Brian was the quickest car on the track, but had offs. Brian eventually won to take White in the A final, by beating Malcolm, by 9 foot. Dave having top qualified could not match his heat score to record 30, just over a lap down.

The A Final saw Chris T, Graham and Brian all shoot off into a close battle. Brian came off on lap 2, to give Chris and Graham about half a lap lead. Chris's falcon could not match Brian's OG12, and soon Brian caught him up and passed him and Graham for the lead. Brian kept up the pace and went onto win by nearly 2 laps.  Graham and Chris both kept close together, only for Chris to beat Graham by rolling past him when the power went off.

Class 2—1/24th Saloon

Chris T, Malcolm and Graham all hit the 10 laps + in qualifying, with Chris setting the best 1 min run so far this year. Graham missed out on the A group by 4 parts to Malcolm. Dave and Brian both had off's in qualifying so made up the B group with Graham.  Dave lead from the off in Group B, having down geared his car from last week, to record a massive 124.93 laps for the top group to chase. Graham had a poor run on yellow with a slipping gear to record 121.65, although wasn't as fast as Dave. Brian struggled with a "slow" motor and swopped to his other car in his 3rd run to record only 110 laps.  Into the A group and Chris only recorded 30 in his first run, meaning Dave via the prognosis was still winning. Malcolm also recorded 30 but prognosis wasn't enough to beat Graham or Dave's score. Chris did nearly 32 in segment 2 to pull back the difference of the first run and pushed on from there, with two more big 31's to beat Dave's score by just under a lap, to record the first 125 of the year. Malcolm had a few to many off's to trouble Graham and Dave's score, but did enough to beat Brian, recording 118 laps.

So a win for Brian and Chris T, onto 24th sports next week, so should see some improvements.
