Dudley Slot Car Club

March 07th 2011

Dave returned after his holiday along with Kevin for his first complete race night of the year, after having to leave early the week before. Chris A was under the weather, and Malcolm and Martin were busy with work commitments. Chris T, Graham, Mark, Brian returned from the previous week to make 6.

Class 1—1/32nd F1

Only Chris T, Graham and Brian had F1's so there was only 3 heats and 1 final. Chris T top qualified from Brian and Graham all with 26 laps. Chris T won the final with the first 27 of the night. Graham recorded another 26 with a dyeing motor, with Brian having to many offs to catch the front two retiring on 22 laps.

 Class 2—1/24th Saloon

All the drivers apart form Kevin completed the 10 laps+ in qualifying. Chris T was top with 10.69, Graham 2nd with 10.29 and Brian rounded out the top group with 10.14. Mark set the fasted single lap time in qualifying and even completed the 10 laps with an off to record 10.05 3 parts behind Dave on 10.08.

The B group was all about Mark. Dave had one of his off nights and decided to play destruction derby with his car recording on 93 laps along the way. Kevin found that the pace of the club had moved on since last year to record 102. Mark again preformed consistently across the lanes to record another 120+ total 0.25 up on last week, in between Dave destruction and Kevin's lack of race pace.

The A group saw Chris T and Graham recorded 30's in there first runs which left Mark in the hunt for his first club win. Brian recorded a small 29 on yellow. The second run saw all 3 drivers record 31's to give Chris T and Graham a lap cushion over Marks score. Brian was now on par with Mark, but problems on red saw him have to retire on 20 laps after dropping in the wrong lane. Graham recorded 30 on White with Chris T recording 30 on Blue to go into the last run about a lap apart. Chris T struggled for once on yellow having a few off's. Graham had a storming run on red to recoded 31 to nearly catch Chris T.  After the power had gone off, Chris T had won by 1 part from Graham after 123 laps of racing.

So yet another double win for and Chris T, with Kevin back hopefully he can have a better week next week with his own cars! With James in Dubai and Martin away, hope to see Chris A and Malcolm back next week!
