With only 5 members turning up to race on the bank holiday Monday, we decided to clean the track before racing, in preparation for the forthcoming area round.
Class 1—1/32nd Saloon
With each driver getting two heats, Graham top qualified with 27.63, half a lap up on Brian. The other 3 drivers had to fight it out in the B final to see who would join them. This proved to be Dave after beating Malcolm by two laps with Chris retiring after two laps with low tires. The A Final proved a close race between Graham and Brian with the lead changing regulatory with each driver having offs with the low grip conditions. Dave struggles to match their pace and finished 3rd. After 3 minutes Brian beat Graham by half a lap to record the first win of the year, leaving Graham 2nd having missed the last 6 weeks racing.
Class 2—1/24th Saloon
Dave top qualified with a 9.95 and was joined by Brian in the top group having beat Chris by 2 parts. The 1st group saw Chris beat Graham by just over half a lap after a close race. Malcolm struggled for consistent runs to finish 4th. Dave started well but tried to hard on the other lanes to finish last after TQ’ing. Brian beat Chris’s B final score by just over a lap, to make it a double for the evening and start the year with 2 wins.
